Joanna Gaines Banana Pudding

Hi everyone! It's Holly. I am so excited to be making my first post to our blog. I thought it would be really fun to start with something that everyone loves. Dessert! I got the Magnolia Table cookbook with a gift card that I received for Christmas. I have been looking forward to trying lots of new recipes. My 3 year old daughter Delilah helped choose Aunt Opals Banana Pudding as our first recipe to try. She absolutely loves helping (& making messes) in the kitchen.:)

In the book, Joanna Gaines talks about how she loves this banana pudding that her husbands great aunt used to make. This banana pudding is served at Chip & Joanna's restaurant in Waco, Texas. The recipe can be found on pg.287 in the desserts section in the cookbook.

I really enjoyed this recipe. It was fast & easy to make. Most importantly, it tasted really good. It is definitely something that kids would like to help with too. Delilah enjoyed placing the vanilla wafers in between each layer of pudding. She was so proud of herself for being such a good helper.

The recipe says to let it chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.I only let it chill for 30-45 minutes and it was plenty cool.

Joanna recommends making her Homemade Whipped Cream (pg.285). I just used store bought whipped cream and it still turned out good.I think that it would be even better with the homemade kind.

What kind of recipes would you like to hear about next? Have you ever tried any of the Magnolia Table recipes? Let me know what you all think in the comment section below!

I have included a link below to the cookbook. The best price is at Amazon.com right now.
